Information

Todd Hoffman joined CSM’s Petroleum Engineering Department in 2011. He has a B.S. from Montana Tech and a M.S. and a Ph.D. from Stanford University, all in Petroleum Engineering. His research involves enhanced oil recovery particularly for shale oil reservoirs, reservoir simulation and predictions, and modeling complex hydraulic fractures. The courses he teaches at CSM include enhanced oil recovery, geostatistics and senior design.  Before joining CSM, Todd worked as a Reservoir Engineering Consultant for Golder Associates and as an Assistant Professor at Montana Tech.  Other work experience includes stints with Anadarko, Chevron and Arco Alaska in various reservoir engineering roles. He is active in SPE most recently as PNW section president. He is also a member of the Order of Engineers and a licensed professional engineer in Montana.

Research Interests

Enhanced Oil Recovery, Shale Oil Reservoirs, Reservoir Model Predictions, Reservoir Characterization and Numerical Flow Simulation.
