Colorado School of Mines geology and petroleum engineering students and faculty have access to advanced software for structural modeling and restoration, reservoir volumetrics, production modeling and other applications, thanks to an educational license gift from PE Limited valued at $6.56 million.

Representatives of Mines’ Department of Geology and Geological Engineering said PE Limited’s MOVE software suite is an essential tool for testing and validating structural interpretations of field and subsurface data.

The MOVE suite includes 2D Kinetic Modeling, 3D Kinetic Modeling, Geomechanical Modeling, Fracture Modeling, Fault Response Modeling, Fault Analysis, Stress Analysis, Move Link Petrel, Move Link OpenWorks, and Move Link GST. The IPM suite of licenses contains tools such as PROSPER, GAP, MBAL,and PVTp.

Petroleum Experts initially provided Mines with a one-year educational license of the modeling tools. Since 2018, the educational gift license has been renewed annually.
