During Summer 2025, I interned with whitson USA LLC, a petroleum engineering software and consulting company based in Houston. In this role, I applied advanced diagnostic and modeling techniques using the Whitson+ platform, including Rate Transient Analysis (RTA), Flowing Material Balance (FMB), and Decline Curve Analysis (DCA), to support field development planning and reservoir performance prediction. My responsibilities also included interpreting production and pressure data, assisting with client engagements, and contributing to documentation efforts such as internal technical references and best-practice guides.
Beyond the technical side, the internship gave me invaluable exposure to the real-world challenges faced by major operators such as Apache, Chevron, and Oxy, where I assisted in client trainings and workshops. Working closely with experienced engineers and industry leaders pushed me to step outside my comfort zone and grow on both a professional and personal level. The collaborative and ambitious environment that whitson fosters is truly unique within the petroleum industry, and I am grateful to have contributed to the company’s development while learning from such an inspiring team.
